Over the last few years, the landscape of hops, flavour expectations, and brewing innovation has evolved dramatically. So we made the decision to take Punk IPA on a journey forward - not to rewrite its identity, but to unlock the full potential of what Punk can be today.

Why Change Punk IPA at All?

Because great beer never stops improving.

The original Punk IPA recipe dates back to a time when many of the world’s most exciting hop varieties simply didn’t exist. Since then, hop breeders and growers have ushered in a new generation of intensely aromatic, flavour-active hops. These are hops that deliver bigger aromas, brighter fruit notes, and deeper layers of citrus, pine, and tropical intensity.

And we’re not just spectators in this evolution - we’re actively involved. We work directly with hop growers, support hop development programmes, and hand-select our hops personally. When we see an opportunity to modernise Punk using varieties that didn’t exist when it was created, we take it.

Consumer tastes have shifted too. Today’s drinkers crave bold, expressive flavour profiles and greater intensity from IPAs. Updating Punk IPA allows us to stay true to its rebellious spirit while ensuring it reflects how people enjoy beer today.

A New Hop Hero: Krush

One of the biggest upgrades comes from introducing Krush, a modern aroma hop sourced from the Pacific Northwest of the USA.

Krush is an absolute powerhouse - packed with hop oils that not only deliver huge aroma upfront but also stay vibrant longer in the beer. This gives Punk more flavour longevity and a more stable hop profile from can to glass.

Think bright breakfast juice, zesty grapefruit, and a bold thread of classic hop dankness. It amplifies everything that made Punk great and pushes it further.

Cleaner Fermentation, Truer Flavour

We’ve also refined the fermentation profile. The original yeast character contributed esters (bubblegum, banana, and light solventy notes) that sometimes softened the hop expression.

Now, the fermentation is cleaner and more precise. That means:

• Fewer esters
• More clarity and balance
• A platform that lets the hops speak louder than ever

The result is a beer that’s crisper, cleaner, and more focused - letting Punk’s hop character shine the way it should.

So How Does the New Punk IPA Taste?

Here’s something we think matters: this beer is more expensive for us to make, but you won’t see a price increase.

New hop varieties, especially those as flavour-active as Krush, cost more. The upgrades in process and flavour investment are significant. But Punk IPA is our flagship, our standard-bearer - and improving it is a cost we take on ourselves.
